"Expensive- but very good."

  • Food:
  • Decor:
  • Service:
  • Cost: $$$$
  • Wine / Cocktails: Full Bar

Overview:

Ame is a great Japanese restaurant and definitely recommend it. I do always warn people though that it is very expensive. For some reason, it tends to fill up much later at night- around 7:30, 8 so if you want a quieter meal, I suggest coming early.

I was recently here with a group of friends and ordered some new things. We started with the hawan mushi and the foie gras presented three ways (seared, torchon sandwich, and salad). I loved the light, briny custard and soup, which were delicately infused with seafood flavors from uni and lobster. For the main meal, I had the shrimp dumplings and black cod. The black cod itself was one of the best-cooked fish I've ever had. Snowy white on the interior, and so tender, each mouthful veritably melted in my mouth.

For dessert we ordered the arancini of kumquat risotto with chamomile ice cream. This didn't disappoint. Crunching past the fried, crumb-coated exterior of the arancini, I encountered a soft, warm kumquat risotto. This place is excellent and I love every meal I get!

Special Dishes:

Hawan mushi, foie gras, shrimp dumplings, black cod, arancini

"Great Jewish Deli"

  • Food: Jewish Delicatessen
  • Decor: Diner
  • Service: Excellent
  • Cost: $$
  • Wine / Cocktails:

Overview:

Nothing beats a good Jewish delicatessen. I went into Wise Sons for lunch a few days ago and was not disappointed. There was no way I was leaving without trying the Matzo Ball Soup, so I ordered that first. After finishing the whole bowl, I ordered the Smoked Trumpet Mushroom Reuben. It was a great twist on a classic sandwich! By the end of my meal I was stuffed but if I had room I would have ordered the Chocolate Babka.

I had a great experience at Wise Guys and will definitely be returning the next time I need some great comfort food!

Special Dishes:

Matzo Ball Soup, Smoked Trumpet Mushroom Reuben, Chocolate Babka

"Amazing fondue."

  • Food:
  • Decor:
  • Service: A
  • Cost: $$
  • Wine / Cocktails: Beer and Wine only

Overview:

This place is my favorite in the city. The only other fondue I have had in the city was at Melt (north beach) and that was wasn't great.

The entree fondues came with pieces of bread, vegetarians and mini baked potatoes.. The potatoes were really delicious, and the fondues were both really good.

For dessert, we had the white chocolate, a milk chocolate and a dark chocolate fondues.. The dark chocolate is supposed to be famous here, but that was the least popular one at our table! The white chocolate one was delish.. the sponge cake pieces and fruits they gave us for dipping complimented that one the best.

This is a great find.. definitely need to come back here again!

Special Dishes:

Everything!

"Great place to go before or
after Giants game"

  • Outdoor seating
  • Valet
  • Food:
  • Decor:
  • Service: Stellar
  • Cost: $$
  • Wine / Cocktails: Full bar

Overview:

I come here all the time before Giants games because they have the best food and I would rather eat here then at the game. The service is top notch as well.

The food is always good. The bread they serve the minute you down is warm, with whipped cream-like butter on the side. They also have olive oil as an option, but they are both great. I recently tried the scallop and risotto dish which hit the spot. It was light and just enough food for me to head over to the game.

For dessert, I always get their fresh baked cookies and bring them with me to the game. Great snack to have! Its also interesting to note that in a packed restaurant right before a game, you get your food instantly. Everybody always gets what they want and no one has to chug down their beer or drinks at the end which is another sign of good timing.

Quality food with stellar service.

Special Dishes:

Scallop and risotto, Cookies, Oysters Rockafeller, Open face shrimp and crab sandwich

Overview:

Town Hall is a great place in the SOMA district. It attracts a great business crowd and the food is delicious. We started our meal with Tuna Tartare. It came with cornmeal fried green tomatoes, garlic chips, Tabasco green onion vinaigrette. For my main course I ordered Grilled Wagyu Flat Iron Steak with fingerling potato puree, cherries, carrots, pickled ramps, bordelaise sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly and I loved the bordelaise sauce. My friend got the Stuffed Bacon Wrapped Texas Quail that she really enjoyed.

Overall, we has a great meal and an excellent experience.

"LOVED it!"

  • Happy Hour
  • Food:
  • Decor:
  • Service: A
  • Cost: $$
  • Wine / Cocktails: Everything you can think of!

Overview:

I love everything about Fog City Diner. I could probably eat here everyday too if I wanted. The drinks, Apps and entrees are all amazing- you can not go wrong picking something out.

I will start with the Apps. The truffled french fries with asiago cheese are mind blowing and I am in love with their mac and cheese. I have yet to find another place with better mac and cheese. I also like their samosas and tuna tartare.

They have an amazing Happy hour as well. Their $5 snacks and $2 beer make my stomach and wallet happy. My favorite is the pulled pork sandwich with fried pickles. Their fried pickles are crispy, fatty and sour.

Their burgers are also incredible with the Juicy meat and perfect bread. It's even better if you ask for some aioli sauce to spread on the burger. The cocktails are delicious and strong. I love the Moscow Mule and their Long Islands. I haven't had any bad drinks there yet. And to top everything off, the portion sizes are huge so you never go home feeling hungry.

Special Dishes:

Mac and Cheese, Truffled French Fries with asiago cheese, tuna tartare, Pulled pork sandwich, Fried pickles

  • Service: Great
  • Cost: $$$

Overview:

Sutro's is an amazing place to dine because of its beautiful view of the water. It has a soothing, relaxed atmosphere that enhances your dining experience. After taking in the view, we ordered the Dungeness Crab Cakes as out appetizer. They were served with a cara cara orange fennel salad and old bay aioli. For my main course I got the Bacon Crusted Loch Duart Salmon. I love salmon and this dish did not disappoint. It was excellent. After our meal we got Sutro’s S’mores. It was fun making s'mores for dessert!

Sutro's is worth checking out for the view alone but the food is great too!

Sears is a great place for breakfast. The place is so popular that there is usually a line but it is definitely worth the wait. Once we sat down I ordered the Orange, Guava, Pineapple, Passion Fruit Juice. It was a refreshing way to start the day. For my meal I got the World-Famous 18 Swedish Pancakes. • Food: Coffe and Cakes
  • Decor: Calm Outdoor and Indoor Cafe
  • Service: Friendly and Helpful Barristas
  • Cost: $$
  • Wine / Cocktails:

Overview:

While at San Francisco's MoMa Museum, I stopped into Blue Bottle Coffee to refuel from a long day of art admiring. It is located on the rooftop of the museum and has wonderful views of the garden and sculptures. I ordered the Caffee Mocha. It was light and smooth and had a beautiful leaf design on top of it. I couldn't pass up a chance to try one of their many cakes that I have heard so much about so I got the Mondrian Cake. I loved that it looked just like a Mondrain painting. The cake was made of white velvet cake, red, yellow, blue velvet cake, and chocolate ganache. It was dense, like a poundcake and tasted delicious.

Special Dishes:

Caffee Mocha, Single Origin Drip, Mondrain Cake

"Great restaurant with a GREAT
view!"

  • Great view
  • outdoor dining
  • Food:
  • Decor:
  • Service: A+
  • Cost: $$
  • Wine / Cocktails:

Overview:

I'm so glad I was walking by one day and picked this place to have lunch! The outdoor lobby of the restaurant is nice as well as the interior, great view of the pier and ocean.

Customer service is great!

Our server gave us some sourdough bread while waiting for our food, and it was amazing. Fresh out of the oven and very tasty.

For appetizers we ordered the calamari, which is enough to feed 2 people. Love the seasoning and breading of the calamari--texture of the calamari is perfect! Soft, easy to chew, not too firm.

I ordered the fried combo (beer battered fish, shrimp, more calamari!, and fries). Love the taste of the fries--tastes like BK fries, fish was yummy--batter wasn't thick, but thin enough and crispy. The shrimp was good, not great and of course the calamari was my fave out of all of em.

My friend ordered the seafood fetuccine and said it was the best she's ever had!

Overall great experience...I'll be sure to come back here again!

Special Dishes:

Calamari, Fried Combo, Seafood Fetuccine
