Overview:
Ame is a great Japanese restaurant and definitely recommend it. I do always warn people though that it is very expensive. For some reason, it tends to fill up much later at night- around 7:30, 8 so if you want a quieter meal, I suggest coming early.
I was recently here with a group of friends and ordered some new things. We started with the hawan mushi and the foie gras presented three ways (seared, torchon sandwich, and salad). I loved the light, briny custard and soup, which were delicately infused with seafood flavors from uni and lobster. For the main meal, I had the shrimp dumplings and black cod. The black cod itself was one of the best-cooked fish I've ever had. Snowy white on the interior, and so tender, each mouthful veritably melted in my mouth.
For dessert we ordered the arancini of kumquat risotto with chamomile ice cream. This didn't disappoint. Crunching past the fried, crumb-coated exterior of the arancini, I encountered a soft, warm kumquat risotto. This place is excellent and I love every meal I get!
